Junior Development Program

Junior shooters, 12 to 17 years old, can join our Junior Development Program held on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12 noon at Australia’s largest indoor shooting range –

The SSAA St Marys Indoor Shooting Centre 30 Power Street St Marys NSW 2760.

Phone (02) 8889 0406 for bookings or inquiries.

The program will cater for juniors who are new to the sport or have had limited firearms experience. With a very strong safety focus it allows students to learn more about this fun Olympic sport. Our junior members shoot under the constant supervision and expert guidance of our Junior Development Range Officers.

This program runs for a 12 week period excluding public holidays and school holidays. The course fee* is $280 and is inclusive of all firearm, ammunition, target, range time and tuition costs. A payment of $60 is required to secure a booking with the balance of $220 to be paid by the second week.

If a junior wishes to participate but does not possess a valid Minor’s Permit (for category A & B) that is fine as the initial safety lecture, if completed successfully, will give them the ability to apply for one. Any junior without a permit must have a parent or legal guardian present to sign the required P650 declaration form on the day. The junior will then be allowed to participate whilst waiting on the issue of their permit. All participants are expected to apply for and receive their permit if they do not already hold one to continue in the course.

The cost of the firearms safe handling course (normally $70) is also covered in the course fee. The Minor’s permit is available through the NSW Police Firearms Registry and will cost $75 and is payable to the Registry.

Enclosed footwear must be worn to every attendance.

MINORS WHO DO NOT HAVE A MINORS PERMIT ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE FIRST WEEK OF THE COURSE TO COMPLETE THEIR LONGARM SAFE HANDLING COURSE.
