SSAA Junior Development Program

Are you 12 to 17 years old, or know someone who is?

Then come and talk to us about the JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

IT’S SAFE AND IT’S FUN!

Junior shooters, 12 to 17 years old, can join our Junior Development Program held on Saturday mornings from 10am to 12 noon at Australia’s largest indoor shooting range –

The SSAA St Marys Indoor Shooting Centre 30 Power Street St Marys NSW 2760.

Phone (02) 8889 0406 for bookings or inquiries.

The program will cater for juniors who are new to the sport or have had limited firearms experience. With a very strong safety focus it allows students to learn more about this fun Olympic sport. Our junior members shoot under the constant supervision and expert guidance of our Junior Development Range Officers.

This program runs for a 12 week period which excludes public holidays and school holidays. The course fee* is $240 which equates to $20 per week and is inclusive of all firearm, ammunition, target, range time and tuition costs. A payment of $60 is required to secure a booking with the balance of $180 to be paid by the second week.

If a junior wishes to participate but does not possess a valid Minor’s Permit (for category A & B) that is fine as the initial safety lecture, if completed successfully, will give them the ability to apply for one. Any junior without a permit must have a parent or legal guardian present to sign the required P650 declaration form on the day. The junior will then be allowed to participate whilst waiting on the issue of their permit. All participants are expected to apply for and receive their permit if they do not already hold one to continue in the course**

The cost of the firearms safe handling course (normally $50) is also covered in the course fee. The Minor’s permit is available through the NSW Police Firearms Registry and will cost $75 and is payable to the Registry.

Next intake will be 19 May to 26 August 2018, this excludes school holidays, please review the enrollment form. Bookings are essential.

Enclosed footwear must be worn to every attendance.

Young Guns 2017

Open to all SSAA members 12 to 21 years who hold a current Firearms License or Minors Permit.

'Beginners welcome'.

Want to expand on your basic firearms training?

Whether you're interested in Target Shooting, Hunting or just want to set your own goals, there is something for everyone.

Young Guns aims to develop and encourage the sport of shooting in a 'Safe', supervised environment.

During the course of the year, Young Guns will be introduced to different types of target shooting disciplines on offer within the SSAA. Including Bench Rest competitions, Field Rifle and 3P competitions.

A bi-monthly newsletter with updates, articles and upcoming events will be sent to participants.

All you need to bring is a willingness to behave in a responsible manner and enjoy yourself.

Own firearms may be used, all matches will be 22LR only. Club guns are available.

Throughout the year we can organise excursions to other ranges and Lithgow Firearms Museum, incursions to learn hunting techniques and firearms maintenance, provided we receive enough interest.
